Job Description

To oversee various projects for New Energy business at multiple sites, through end-to-end review, management of project plans, estimation, execution, approvals and satisfactory closure post completion while ensuring adherence to project budget, quality, statutory compliance and RIL guidelines including dealing with Licensor, FEED, PMC / EPCM / OBE / LSTK contractors. Responsibilities Functional Planning and Strategy – Review, provide inputs for creating the project scope at the plant and create a roadmap to ensure adherence to overall objectives and goals – Collaborate with leadership to identify new initiatives and develop defined projects based on future business demands – Participate in the overall project budgeting cycle & process and provide inputs on budget allocation for own sub-function/ team – Oversee deployment of own budget and ensure efficient utilization and minimum variance in target v/s actual – Liaison with the Executive Committee to identify and recommend opportunities for project capacity/ capability enhancements – Remain updated about the industry where he had been working for formulation of effective strategies. – Define the business context upfront for all stakeholders to prevent managers and executives from misunderstanding one another and derailing the process. – Developing action plan of goals and objectives & translating them into detailed action steps with assigned responsibilities which should be a formal document that summarizes the sequence of steps or initiatives required to attain an objective Project Planning & Execution – Review end to end project plan including scope, timeline, resource requirement, feasibility reports, cost estimates etc. and guide the team for execution of the same – Perform cost-benefit and return on investment analysis to determine if project is economically feasible and financially viable, and approve the project budgets accordingly – Visualize the various infrastructure related requirement at sites before starting of any project, and ensure to have all requisite statutory approvals – CLU (Change of Land Use), CTE (Consent To Establish), EC (Environmental Clearance), PESO approval, etc. are taken by concerned teams beforehand. – Manage on time availability and allocation of resources including manpower, equipment and materials, to multiple projects based on priorities. – Monitor project progress periodically against plan, review resource requirements and take action to plug in any gaps as per requirement. – Drive adherence to best-in-class project management standards through upskilling of employees and deployment of project management tools and technologies. – Review project update & variance reports, present the same to top management as per requirement, and recommend measures to mitigate risks (operational, legal, financial, safety, etc.), if any. – Stay updated on the emerging technologies, and available proven suppliers for project execution. – Define project execution plan in terms of (i) Creation of task, (ii) Setting timelines, (iii) Assigning task to team, (iv) Tracking progress, (v) Communicating regularly, (vi) Engaging stakeholders and (vii) Change in scheduling wherever necessary at appropriate time. Project Control & Reporting – Oversee quality control activities like reviews, inspections and testing, and guide the sub-department heads in putting in place relevant checks and controls. – Oversee creation and maintenance of knowledge repository of project related data as per laid down documentation systems. – Review and share periodic analytical dashboards and reports (progress, risk, budget, issues) to enable stakeholders to monitor progress and take corrective actions wherever required, as well as provide real time visibility to the Executive Committee on project progress, strategies adopted and recommend measures to mitigate risks. – Control Project by gathering data, Managing data and analysing data with proper tools to predict, understand and constructively influence w.r.t. time and cost outcomes of a project or programme through the communication of information in formats that assist effective management and decision making. Compliance & Audits – Monitor preparation & submission of documents required for statutory approvals during both pre-operations and operations phase. – Ensure compliance of statutory safety standards and regulatory requirements including CSM (Customer Safety Management) and timely adherence to audit schedules. – Drive ownership for HSE (Health, Safety & Environment) compliance {ReSOP (Reliance Safety Observation Programme), DOSHE (Department of Safety, Health & Environment), CASHe (Change Agents for Safety, Health and workplace Environment), HSEF (Health, Safety, Environment & Fire), HSEQ (Health, Safety, Environment and Quality), HSSE (Health, Safety, Security and Environment) mandatory trainings} to enable a safe working culture. – Conduct vendor audits to ensure harmonization of standards for equipment across different vendors and contractors. – Ensure auditing for evaluation of whether the company is following set standards (Organization’s policies, Procedures, Processes, Files, and Documentation) in order to determine whether company is in alignment with existing regulations of the industry. – Ensure compliance of different types of applicable audits such as (1) Internal audits, (2) External audits, (3) Construction audits, (4) Productivity audits, (5) Quality Assurance audits, (6) Cost control audits, (7) Performance audits, (8) Operational audits, (9) Compliance audits, (10) Information system audits, (1a) Reporting system audits, (11) Documentation audits etc. Policies, Processes and Procedures – Implement approved policies, processes, procedures and monitor their adherence so that work is carried out in a controlled manner. – Set up processes & mechanisms for seamless coordination among stakeholders representing process, licensing, BEP, FEED, projects, engineering, procurement, construction, vendors, contractors & operations. – Identify opportunities for continuous improvement of policies, processes and procedures taking into account leading practices, improvement of business processes, value engineering, cost reduction and productivity improvement. – Monitor day-to-day activities to ensure compliance with stipulated policies and procedures. – Implement a high-level Processes, Procedures and Policies which can be defined as (a) Processes – the steps of tasks that need to be completed in order to complete a project, (b) Procedures – the set of instructions for completing a process and (c) Policies – the guidelines that dictate how processes and procedures should be carried out. People Management – Participate in recruitment activities & ensure retention / engagement of own team. – Set performance objectives of own team, evaluate / appraise team members and provide regular feedback & guidance. – Guide, mentor and develop own team to take larger and complex responsibilities. – Evaluate training and development requirements for own team and make recommendations for learning interventions. – Institutionalise team building activities – Ensure healthy completion among team members. Education Qualifications – A Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering. Further preferable in Master’s degree in Construction Management / Project Management and NICMAR / PMP certification. Experience – 25+ years of experience in project management functions for large scale plant in the sectors as Renewable, Power, Energy etc.
