Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced and passionate Head of Department to lead the academic and operational management of our six design specializations (post-foundation phase). You will collaborate closely with the Dean, Course Leaders, and industry partners to ensure an exceptional educational experience that aligns with both university standards and industry expectations.
Key Responsibilities
Academic Leadership
- Oversee and ensure the smooth functioning of all specialized streams post-foundation phase (semesters 3–8 of the B.Des program).
- Collaborate with the Dean to design, plan, and schedule courses and activities in alignment with the curriculum.
- Support curriculum evolution and development based on academic, industry, and university guidelines.
Faculty & Resource Management
- Work with Course Leaders to recruit faculty and guest lecturers aligned with course needs.
- Supervise campus equipment needs and provide academic support for student projects.
Industry & Academic Integration
- Facilitate partnerships with industry for academic projects, including sprints, masterclasses, competitions, and internships.
- Maintain and leverage a strong professional network to create opportunities for students and the institution.
Administrative Oversight
- Manage academic documentation, grading, and examination procedures in coordination with the operations team.
- Contribute to the planning and execution of academic and campus-wide events.
Candidate Profile
- Education & Experience
- Minimum 5 years of experience in design education.
- 5 to 10 years of professional experience in the design industry (mandatory).
- Prior international exposure or experience is a strong advantage.
Skills & Attributes
- Fluent in English (medium of instruction).
- Proficient in contemporary design tools and software.
- Deeply passionate about design, education, and mentorship.
- Highly organized, tech-savvy, and proactive in academic and administrative leadership.
- Strong interpersonal skills with a collaborative and student-centric approach.
