Role : Data Modeller. Exp : 6-12 Years. Location : Mumbai / Pune ( Hybrid WFO). Key Responsibilities : – Collaborate with business analysts, stakeholders, and subject matter experts to understand business needs and translate them into clear and detailed data requirements. – Analyze existing data sources, systems, and processes to identify data quality issues, inconsistencies, and opportunities for improvement. – Participate in requirements gathering sessions and contribute to the development of functional and technical specifications. – Design and develop conceptual, logical, and physical data models that align with business requirements and architectural standards. – Apply various data modelling techniques, including relational modelling (ER diagrams, normalization), dimensional modelling (star schema, snowflake schema), and other relevant approaches. – Define data entities, attributes, relationships, constraints, and data types. – Create and maintain comprehensive data model documentation, including data dictionaries, data flow diagrams, and model specifications. – Contribute to the design and development of data warehouse and data mart schemas optimized for analytical reporting and business intelligence. – Apply dimensional modelling principles to create efficient and user-friendly data structures for reporting purposes. – Consider performance, scalability, and data integration aspects in data warehouse design. – Collaborate with database administrators (DBAs) to translate physical data models into efficient database designs. – Provide input on database schema creation, indexing strategies, and partitioning techniques to optimize query performance. – Participate in database performance tuning and troubleshooting efforts. – Contribute to the development and enforcement of data governance policies and standards. – Define data quality rules and participate in data quality initiatives to ensure the accuracy, consistency, and completeness of data. – Collaborate with data stewards to understand data ownership and lineage. – Utilize data modelling tools (e.g., Erwin, ER/Studio, PowerDesigner) to create, maintain, and document data models. – Be proficient in writing and understanding SQL queries for data analysis and validation. – Familiarity with data integration tools and processes is a plus. – Effectively communicate data modelling concepts and designs to both technical and non-technical audiences. – Collaborate closely with data architects, data engineers, business analysts, and DBAs throughout the project lifecycle. – Participate in project meetings and provide regular updates on data modelling activities. – Act as a subject matter expert on data modelling principles and best practices. – Stay up-to-date with the latest trends and advancements in data modelling techniques, tools, and technologies. – Be willing to learn and adapt to new data platforms and architectures. Required Skills and Experience : – Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Science, or a related field. – 6-12 years of proven experience as a Data Modeller, with a strong portfolio showcasing your data modelling work. – Deep understanding of data modelling principles, methodologies, and best practices. – Extensive experience in designing conceptual, logical, and physical data models for various types of applications and data systems. – Strong proficiency in relational data modelling techniques (normalization, ER diagrams). – Solid understanding and practical experience with dimensional data modelling techniques (star schema, snowflake schema). – Experience in designing data models for data warehousing and business intelligence solutions. – Excellent SQL skills for data analysis, validation, and understanding database structures. – Hands-on experience with at least one industry-standard data modelling tool (e.g., Erwin, ER/Studio, PowerDesigner). – Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex business requirements. – Excellent communication (both verbal and written) and presentation skills. – Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment. – Familiarity with data governance concepts and data quality principles. Good-to-Have Skills : – Experience with NoSQL data modelling concepts and different NoSQL database types (e.g., document, key-value, graph). – Knowledge of data integration tools and ETL/ELT processes. – Experience with cloud-based data platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP). – Familiarity with data virtualisation concepts. – Understanding of data security and privacy principles. – Experience in specific industry domains (e.g., Finance, Healthcare, Retail).
