New Product Design Engineer
Job Description
Job Summary
Festo India seeks a Design Engineer – NPD to design, develop, analyze, and validate mechanical and pneumatic components and systems. This includes 2D and 3D modeling, preparing parts lists, and creating technical documentation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and development of mechanical and pneumatic components (2D/3D modeling, parts lists, data sheets)
- Conducting design calculations and simulations
- Managing new product development processes and special purpose machine projects
- Performing technical feasibility studies for assembly and testing
- Supporting production with changes, cost optimizations, and quality improvement
- Supporting the introduction of serial products
- Optimizing and converting existing designs to English 3D drawings
- Participating in product development committees
- Creating and tracking project time schedules and cost plans
- Handling change processes and engineering change documentation
- Coordinating with suppliers and internal stakeholders for sampling, concessions, and complaint resolutions
- Adhering to company policies and standards of quality and accuracy
- Promoting innovation, continuous improvement, and flexibility in design and development processes
Requirements:
- 4-6 years of experience in the following: design & development of components, new product development, special purpose machine design, machine, valve, and PUPM design, mechanical calculations and simulations
- Proficiency in 3D CAD software: Creo, SolidWorks, or equivalent
- Good understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
- Ability to interact with suppliers and cross-functional teams
- Strong time management, planning, and problem-solving skills
- Creativity and initiative in improving processes, systems, or products
- Bachelor’s degree (BE) in Mechatronics or Mechanical Engineering OR Diploma in Mechanical Engineering (DME) with relevant experience

The successful candidate will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure the successful development and introduction of new products. He/she will be responsible for designing, developing, analyzing, and validating mechanical and pneumatic components and systems. The role requires proficiency in 3D CAD software, good understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T), and ability to interact with suppliers and cross-functional teams.
The ideal candidate should have a bachelor’s degree in Mechatronics or Mechanical Engineering or a diploma in Mechanical Engineering (DME) with relevant experience. He/she should possess strong time management, planning, and problem-solving skills, as well as creativity and initiative in improving processes, systems, or products.
