We are looking for a talented WordPress PHP Developer Intern to join our development team at Schbang.

This role is ideal for candidates who want to gain hands-on experience in WordPress theme and plugin development while working with PHP, MySQL, and JavaScript.

As an intern, you will assist in building, optimizing, and maintaining WordPress-based websites and applications. This is a great opportunity to learn industry best practices and contribute to real-world projects.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in developing, maintaining, and customizing WordPress themes and plugins.
  • Write clean, well-structured, and efficient PHP code following best practices.
  • Troubleshoot, debug, and optimize WordPress websites for performance and security.
  • Collaborate with designers and front-end developers to integrate custom features.
  • Work with REST APIs and third-party integrations for enhanced WordPress functionality.
  • Evaluate cross-browser compatibility and mobile responsiveness of websites.
  • Document the development process, architecture, and coding standards.

Must-Have Skills:

  • A strong understanding of PHP, MySQL, and WordPress core.
  • Experience with WordPress theme and plugin development.
  • Knowledge of HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, and jQuery.
  • Familiarity with custom post types, taxonomies, and WordPress hooks.
  • Experience with Git or other version control systems.
  • A basic understanding of website optimization and security best practices.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work in a team environment.

Optional Skills:

  • Experience with WooCommerce customization.
  • Understanding of page builders like Elementor or Gutenberg.
  • A basic knowledge of Linux server administration.
  • Exposure to React or Vue.js for WordPress headless setups.

Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor’s degree (or currently pursuing) in Computer Science, IT, or a related field.
  • 0-1 years of experience working with WordPress development.
  • A portfolio or personal projects showcasing WordPress and PHP skills is a plus.
